Inventory of private Eucalyptus plantation in Thailand 1997 was carried out by using questionnaire were sent to head of sub-districts all over the country for collecting information about planted area distributed by age and spacing, as well as the operating problems. Moreover field survey was employed for gathering the information about growth in each age class by site quality level, cost and return from plantation investment. The study found that the total Eucalyptus area in 1997 was 2,740,773 rai this included the plantation area in Northeast, North, Central, East and South of about 1,298,657, 349,975, 303,315, 787,349 and 1,477 rai or 47.38, 12.77, 11.07, 28.73 and 0.05 percent of the total country plantation area respectively. From the prediction of Eucalyptus timber supply in the next 5 years period (1998-2002) showed that the heightest quantity of timber supply will be found in 2000 with amount of 9,298,502 ton. In addition, the financial analysis of the plantation investment was also undertaken, when the rotation and interest rate were given at 4 years and 8 percent respectively based on fixed rate of cost, and medium site quality, the results showed that net present value (NPV) of the plantation with spacing 3*3 square m in the East was heightest with the value of 2,856 baht/rai. Furthermore, the plantation in Northeast with spacing 2*4 square m provide the heightest value of NPV with amount of 2,440 baht/rai.
