Analysis of grain quality of some rice varieties grown in Cuulong river delta

Analysis of grain quality of 207 rice varieties grown in Dongxuan (winter-spring) and Hethu (summer- autumn) showed that grain milling quality of Dongxuan grown rice varieties is higher than that of Hethu grown ones. Milled rice grains are long slender with chalkiness of 5 and 9 grade of 39.2 percent and 8.8 percent respectively, mean alkali elongation of 45.8 percent, and the rate of varieties having high amylose content as 52.9 percent. Ten rice varieties with high grain quality mainly grown in Cuulong river delta are IR 64, Jasmine 85, CNA 6820, OM 997-6, OM2031, OM1490, OM2745-2, OM1706, OM1623 and OM1704
