P1 is a new rice variety selected from the cross combination Te-thom/CR203 by the Food Crops Research Institute. It has a well arranged tilling shape with erect leaves, plant height of 100-105 cm, 1000 grain weight of 25 grams and growth duration of 125-130 days. It is a high quality rice variety with protein content of 10.5 percent in unhulled, amylose content of 22 percent and grain length of 7mm. P1 can be cultivated in 2 crops a year. It is highly resistant to Nilapaevata lugens. The variety is more suitable for the rice production for export, especially in the Northern provinces
