Concentration of heavy metals Pb, Cu, Cd and Zn in suspended sediment of the Jasenica river (Serbia, Yugoslavia) was analysed during the period 1996-1999. The sampling procedure was performed at the water and sediment discharge gauging station "Donja Satornja". The four-year results show that the concentration of Pb, Cu and Zn were far above the accepted European and OSPAR standards, especially in 1999 when NATO bombarding happened. The results show that this watershed was under serious impact of heavy metals, especially Pb and Zn and that the river water trasfered the contamination downstream as a serious off-site pollution effect on river and its environment.
