The influence of the production methods on the quality of the decorative pepper seedlings

The nutritive, decorative and economic effects have been basis to study the influence of various methods of growing on the quality of decorative pepper seedlings as an essential factor of production. The experiment was carried out on random block system in five cycles, where the first factor ws the method of seedling production (dense planting in boxes 55x32x5 cm in nutritive cubes 8x8x8 cm, in peat briquettes "Jyffi 7" and in Styrofoam containers of 30 cm cell volume) and the second factor was of pepper species: Capsicum frutescens L. var. baccatum Tulip variety and Capsicum annuum subspecies fasciculatum L. bouquet ecotype. During the experiment, essential parameters for the evaluation of seedling quality were observed, and the results were dealt with variation analysis. Based on the study of the influence of the production methods on the quality of decorative pepper seedlings we concluded that the germination and growth in the seedling phase was affected by selection of the species so that the pepper Capsicum frutescens L. var. baccatum Tulip variety has a longer period from germination to formation of the first three leaves compared with Capsicum annuum subspecies fasciculatum bouquet ecotype. On average seedling of Tulip variety were higher (10.9 i.e. 13.9 cm) than those of bouquet (8.9 i.e. 8.6 cm). Both species formed the majority of leaves when produces in "Jyffi 7" and in containers of the production had the highest content of dry matter of vegetative organs, which is a significant potential for the further plant growth. On the whole the most qualitative growth of the studied decorative peppers is obtained with the production in "Jyffi 7", while the seedlings from container are of the most harmonious morphological structure. On the basis of these studies it is possible to determine the production method of the seedlings.
