In addition to the conservation and testing of Austrian pine genetic potential in situ - in natural populations on various sites, the establishment of special plantations provides the conditions for biodiversity testing ex situ. The results of testing 40 half-sib lines in the seed orchard near Uzice town, Serbia (Yugoslavia) are significant contribution to the study of the magnitude of Austrian pine potential variability, as well as the evaluation of this specialized orchard with metapopulation structure, for multi-annual research of Austrian pine gene pool and biodiversity conservation.
