[Coleoptera Staphylinidae from Belgium and Grand-Duchy of Luxemburg. Commented catalogus and biogeographical elements]

This catalogue lists all the species of Coleoptera Staphylinidae (except for Scaphidiinae, Pselaphinae and Dasycerinae) whose presence has been reported in Belgium and Luxemburg between 1860 and 2000. For each species, a possible presence is shown in each of the 10 main biogeographical districts of Belgium and Luxemburg, for each of the following time-periods : 1860-1899, 1900-1949, 1950-2000 or 1900-2000. Moreover, as far as possible, the presence or absence of species is indicated for the 13 regions of France, Germany and the Netherlands, that possess a border, shared (or nearly so) with Belgium or Luxemburg. The systematic and nomenclature used in this catalogue have been resolutely modernized. As a result, two important lists of synonyms have been joined.
