Since July, 1st 1999, the "Kuratorium fuer Versuchs-wesen und Beratung im Zuckerruebenanbau", the association of the Southern German sugar beet growers and Suedzucker offer a new information and advisory system for sugar beet via Internet (www.bisz.suedzucker.de or www.vsz.de), which is up to date and distinguished by power of dialogue. These web sides include a graphic representation of the monitoring results for the leaf diseases, actual short messages from the different beet areas, informations on varieties and fertilizer as well as special articles about different subjects such as harvesting technique. From the beginning of the year 2000, the offer is completed by two dialogue programs for weed control and varieties advisory. The first analyse of the demand for our web sides show that the new system is well accepted by sugar beet growers. The further development of the web sides is strictly aimed at the requests of the practice. Since the same time the techniques for computer and Internet are quickly improving, we expect an increasing demand.
