The effect of four different application techniques on deposition and distribution of crop protection products (CPP) in blackberries was tested. Different height zones (0-lm, l-2m and upper than 2m) and the lower and upper leaf sides were taken into account. The test was done with two sprayers with air assistance (AA) (one of them pneumatic) and with one sprayer without AA. Tests were carried out with hollow cone as well as with air injection nozzles. A pre-test with the vertical patternator gave an idea about the vertical distribution of the liquid, sprayed by the different techniques. Filter paper was used as collector material and the tracers were chelated metals. The air-assisted sprayers gave the best results at the lower leaf sides but the pneumatic sprayer gave good results at the top of the crop. This was due to the sprayer being not sufficiently targeted towards the upper crop parts. The median deposition values for the air injection nozzles were in all cases higher than for the hollow cone nozzles on the non-air assisted sprayer. The results showed that the adjustments done in the trial must still be improved for each selected sprayer. Confirmation of the results by biological tests are necessary.
