The research was carried out in 1994-1999 with cv. Antey on rootstock 62-396, screened by the diameter of relative root neck into 4 groups: 5-7, 7-9, 9-11, 11-13 mm. It is possible to use both nonshortened and shortened biennial seedlings for planting the orchard with the density from 1250 to 2500 trees per hectare, the planting design being 4 x 1-2 m. But nonshortened and shortened biennial seedlings with root trimming in the third nursery field are the optimal material for planting the orchard with the distance in a row less than 1 m
