[Comparison of the efficiency of a current vaccine with the commercial vaccine Gletvax 6 inj. ad us. vet]
2002
Nemec, J. | Sieberova, V. (Schering Plough Animal Health, Prague (Czech Republic))
The vaccine Gletvax 6 inj. ad us. vet containing several E. coli antigens and several Clostridium perfringens toxoids was tested simultaneously with a coccidiostatic administered perorally and compared with the use of a current vaccine and the use of a current vaccine + coccidiostatic. The experiments were made on a farm with 1,200 breeding sows. The sows were vaccinated as follows: 4 and 2 weeks before the first farrowing (primovaccination) and 2 weeks before the next farrowing. The health status of piglets showed that the use of the vaccine Gletvax + coccidiostatic was the most efficient. It led to the decrease of mortality by 6 % at least. The production benefits were calculated to increase by 292 CZK/sow/year in comparison with non-vaccinated animals and by 161 CZK/sow/year in comparison with the use of a current vaccine.
