Manifestation of the mycobacteriosis in Cardinal Tetra, Paracheirodon axelrodi, during Pleistophora hyphessobryconis infection
2001
Novotny, L. | Dvorak, P. (Veterinarni a Farmaceuticka Univ., Brno (Czech Republic))
Two diseases of different aetiology were observed in two specimens of Paracheirodon axelrodi. Histopathological examinations detected pansporoblasts of Pleistophora hyphessobryconis in muscles and inner organs and two types of granulomas differing in their morphology and localisation. The staining by Ziehl-Neelsen identified acid-alcohol fast bacilli in one of the granulomas. The parasitical infestation probably caused an immunosuppression which led to the development of mycobacteriosis.
