[Vertical and horizontal wet deposition of sulphur and nitrogen in the locality Cervenohorske sedlo (Hruby Jesenik, Czech Republic)]

Vertical and horizontal wet deposition data were collected in the locality Cervenohorske sedlo at 1,013 m a.s.l. (Hruby Jesenik, Czech Republic) from 1999 to 2002. Concentrations of sulphates, nitrates, and ammonium as well as pH and precipitation amounts were monitored. Results obtained by an experimental method using a special collector for intercepting horizontal depositions were compared with those calculated by a balance method. The agreement between the two methods was good for annual amounts of nitrates, nitrogen, and sulphur. The horizontal wet deposition contributed to the throughfall deposition of sulphur and nitrogen by 30-40 % indicating thus a significant impact of the horizontal wet deposition on the pollution of highland ecosystems.
