Evaluation of the effectiveness of Neopredisan 135-1 against Isospora suis oocysts

The cresol-based disinfectant Neopredisan 135-1 was evaluated for inactivation of Isospora suis oocysts using a suspension test. The disinfectant inhibited the sporulation but did not affect the infectivity. The reduction in excretion of oocysts was observed after experimental inoculation of suckling piglets. However, the developmental cycle of Isospora suis was completed. These findings indicate that Neopredisan 135-1 has limited efficacy against Isospora suis and is unable to cease the infection completely.
