[The effect of nutrition on clinical symptoms of B. pilocicoli and B. hyodysenteriae infections]
2002
Paseka, A.
The article presents an economic evaluation of costs in herds of fattened pigs with the occurrence of B. pilocicoli and B. hyodysenteriae infections. The nutritional costs in infected herds increased by 1.08-3.67 CZK per 1 kg of weight gain in comparison with those of non infected herds. When considering the supplementation of feeds with veterinary drugs (Tiamulin and Valnemulin), the costs increased by 100,800 CZK/t and by 125,466 CZK/t of compound feed, respectively. The therapy of swine dysentery must take into account several factors (production conditions, herd management, etc.), the most important factor being the right choose of medicine and its most efficient dose.
