The objective of this work was to elaborate an otimization procedure enabling to find out the lowest possible mass of a welded framework for a special tractor trailor transporting seeding machines. The software Pro/MECHANICA in an integrated mode with the CAD product Pro/ENGINEER was used. This optimization procedure, called Fully Stressed Design, is based on an indirect approach utilizing optimum criteria and taking into account the required resistance. This new procedure enables to save more than 35 % of the material.
