Optimizing the spacing considering factors of light utilization

At optimizing the spacing in intensive orchards planted with spindle trees various factors should be considered. The distance between rows depends on the width of canopy and alleyway, but the ratio of tree height and row distance should be taken into account. There are limits of decrease the within row distance between trees. Increasing rectangularity decrease the orchard light interception and cumulative yield. Srong correlation is found between the canopy covered area index and cumulative yield.
