The growth response of rice in early vegetative phase under water stress

An investigation was done to evaluate growth responses of wet and dry field rice at early vegetative phase on 0 atm, - 0,25 atm, - 0,5 atm, - 0,75 atm and - 1 atm media. Seeds of Maros wet field rice and IR 64 dry field rice were grown, then the plants were cultured on five kinds of media. The leaf number of each plant, plant height and leaf area were evaluated before treatment, 1th week and 2nd weeks after treatment. The results indicated that there was no difference in leaf numbers but there were significant differences in plant height and leaf area. The plant height cultured on - 0.25 atm medium on the first week was the greatest. Leaf area of wet field rice increased on first week and decreased on second week, while leaf area of dry field rice generally increased
