[A study on the reduction of seed quality of peanut between conservation period]

English. The research aimed to study reduction of seed quality of peanut between first and second period (Conservation Period) specifically VKSS in order to assure quality at VaS. The research was conducted in the field using randomized complete block design (RCBD). Treatment of delaying harvest consisted of six levels which were: before physiological maturity (MF-1), physiological maturity (MF+0), one weeks after physiological maturity (MF+1), two weeks after physiological maturity (MF+2), three weeks after physiological maturity (MF+3), and four weeks after physiological maturity (MF+4). Physiological quality of peanut seed was highest at physiology maturity (percent germination = 98.00 percent, growth uniformity = 93.00 percent, rate of germination = 35.01 percent, and hypotetic vigour index = 6.41). Water content of peanut seed at physiology was still high (54.35 percent). Delaying harvest four weeks after physiology maturity within conservation lowered water content to 33.35 percent. Reduction in water content of seed was followed by reduction in percent germination, growth uniformity, rate of germination and hypotetic vigour index linearly. Quality of peanut seed at initial VaS was still categorized high (percent germination = 90.50 percent, growth uniformity = 75.00 percent, rate of germination = 33.62 percent, and hypotetic index = 6.30)

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mempelajari penurunan mutu benih kacang tanah antara periode I dan periode II (Periode Konservasi) khususnya vigor konservasi sebelum simpan (VKSS) sehingga mutu pada vigor awal sebelum simpan (VaS) dapat diketahui. Pelaksanaan penelitian di lapangan menggunakan Rancangan Acak Kelompok (RAK). Perlakuan penundaan panen terdiri dari enam taraf yaitu: sebelum masak fisiologi (MF-1), masak fisiologi (MF+0), satu minggu setelah masak fisiologi (MF+1), dua minggu setelah masak fisiologi (MF+2), tiga minggu setelah masak fisiologi (MF+3), dan empat minggu setelah masak fisiologi (MF+4). Mutu fisiologi benih kacang tanah tertinggi dicapai pada masak fisiologi (daya berkecambah = 98.00 persen, kecepatan tumbuh = 93.00 persen, kecepatan berkecambah = 35,01 persen, dan indeks vigor hipotetik = 6,41). Kadar air benih kacang tanah pada saat masak fisiologi masih tinggi (54,35 persen). Penundaan panen empat minggu setelah masak fisiologi dalam periode konservasi dapat menurunkan kadar air hingga 33,35 persen. Penurunan kadar air benih diikuti penurunan daya berkecambah, keserampakan tumbuh, kecepatan berkecambah, dan indeks vigor hipotetik secara linear. Mutu benih kacang tanah pada VaS masih dapat dikategorikan tinggi (daya berkecambah = 90,50 persen, keserampakan tumbuh = 75,00 persen, kecepatan berkecambah = 33,62 persen, dan indeks vigor hipotetik = 6,03)
