Repeatability estimates of calving interval, lactation length and milk yield in a herd of Thari cattle

The investigation was carried out on repeatability of estimates of calving interval, lactation length and milk yield in a herd of Thari cattle at Livestock Experiment Station, Farm Nabi Sir Road Umerkot (Sindh). Data for fifteen years from 1980-1995 was collected and analyzed at Sindh Agricultural University, Tandojam during 1998-99. The calving interval, lactation length and milk yield averaged 436.92 plus-minus 3.95, 267.11 plus-minus 3.05 days and 1041.18 plus- minus 18.15 kg per lactation, respectively. The repeatability estimates for calving interval, lactation length and milk yield was 0.340 plus-minus 0.061, 0.258 plus-minus 0.062 and 0.559 plus-minus 0.051, respectively.
