Sixty-eight pea genotypes both local and exotic were evaluated for 17 quantitative traits related to earliness, green pod yield, shelled fresh yield and grain yield. Results based on basic statistics, frequency distribution and correlation studies gave hope for the improvement of pea varieties for green pod yield and shelled fresh yield. Three genotypes (10303, 10603 and 10413) were selected for better yield of green pods and fresh green seeds. Evaluation of present germplasm revealed elite lines for earliness and pea grain yield through simple selection. Classification exhibited some outstanding genotypes with unique traits that could be exploited directly or is included in hybridization program for pea improvement.
