Efficacy of some insecticide mixtures against aphid Aphis gossypii (Glover) and spotted bollworm, Earias vittela (F) on okra

Field experiment were conducted to study the comparative efficiency of different mixtures of insecticides in controlling aphids and spotted bollworms on okra. For this purposes, okra pussa green variety was sown. July 1999 in a randomized complete block design with four replicates. Each replicate comprised of 5 plots of respective insecticides including control (check.). The recommended doses of Aflix 36 EC (Dimethoate + Endosulfan), Ayophos 2!) EC (cypermethrin + Monocrophos) Power punch (Dimethoate 40 EC + cypermathrince). Pre treatment observation were recorded 24 hours before spray and post- treatment were made, l day, 2 days, 4 days, 7 days and 15 days. The reduction percentages were calculated by using Henderson and Tilton formula. The results on mean reduction percentage in the population of Aphid, Aphis gossipii (Glover) revealed that toxicity of insecticides varied insecticides and time intervals. decreased with the time significantly with the All the insecticides case of spotted bollworm. The toxicity of the insecticides reduced as the time elapsed after application. Aflix and Azophos were comparatively most effective and persistent insecticides against both insect pests. The plot sprayed with Aflix and Azophos produced significantly the highest yield. The application of Aflix and Azophos on okra are recommended to control Aphid and spotted bollworm to obtained better yield of the crops.
