Studies oil management practices and production patterns of Dhatti breed of camel in desert area of, District. That was carried out during the year. 1998-99. A total of 88 farmers from four talukas (Mithi, Diplo, Nangar Parkar and Chachro) of district Thar were interviewed (22 farmers from each talukas). Information was collected on various aspects of camel farming on prescribed proforma specially designed for this purpose. It was observed that literacy rate of farmers of district Thar was very poor majority of farmers were uneducated similarly, the maximum number of the farmers were landless. The farmers kept their camels in semi wild state in the farm of herd of different sizes. The camel farmers also raised other animals buffalo, cow, sheep, goat and etc. The lactation length observed was approximately on year. The male camel took more days of first loading and riding as compared to female. At the four talukas of district Thar the camel used for pack as well as for riding ploughing water dawning from deep well and water distribution. The breeding life span for male was greater than female. The rutin season started from November to March. The camel farmers migrated due to extreme shortage of feed and water to the irrigated areas of district Umerkot, Mirpurkhas and Badin. The camel don't sale camel milk and meat, hair of camel were used for making rope and Farasi (Kharar). The camel farmers sale camel at district head quarter and at the fair of Saman Sarkar and Ghulam Shah. Similarly the products of camel were used for domestic consumption but some times the products were sold when money is needed to them. No scientific breeding methods were adopted, transpiration were negligible no pucca market as available.
