Scenedesmus quadricauda is an important natural food for rotifers which in turn serves as a significant natural food for carp fish fry. The algae was cultured both in fertilized and unfertilized media. The medium used for the mass production was composed of Ammonium Sulfate (50 g/1000 1), Triple Super Phosphate (30 g/1000 1) and Urea (25 g/1000 1). The Progressive increase in the number of cells of this algae was recorded by enumeration of algal cells/mm3. The quantitative analysis from the fertilized and unfertilized media revealed that long-term pure culture of Scenedesmus quadricauda is fertilization dependent and can be used in aquaculture successfully.
