The research on "Bud take success and budding growth of peach cultivars on different rootstocks" was carried out at Agricultural Research Institute, Tarnab, Peshawar, during the year 2000-2001. Four scion cultivars i.e. Florida King, Tex 69, June Gold and 6A were budded on two peach rootstocks i.e. Peshawar Local and Swat Local. The results showed that rootstocks and cultivars and their interaction had significant effect on all the parameters studied except percent bud take success. Maximum bud take success (89.97 %), budding growth (207.73 cm), shoot thickness (1.90 cm), number of leaves per plant (966.87), leaf area (45.26 cm-2), root length (37.70 cm), root thickness (2.66 cm) and number of roots per plant (23.53) were recorded in Florida King, budded on Peshawar Local rootstock. Maximum number of shoots per plant (29.0) was counted in Tex 69 budded on Peshawar Local and maximum days to sprouting (19.97) was recorded in 6A budded on Swat Local. On the basis of over all performance Florida King budded on Peshawar Local had the excellent results.
