Changes in the vegetation of softwater lakes under influence of humic substances
2001

The effect of dissolved allochthonous humic substances (aDHS) on submerged aquatic vegetation was studied in softwater lakes. It has been found that with increasing aDHS (in the range 1.2 to 20.6 mg C/cubic dm) the number of mycrophyte species decreases (from 17 to 1), the biomass is reducted considerably (86 to 0 g dw/square m), especially the biomass of the dominants. Population areas become increasingly narrow and shifted towards shallow littoral sities. Plant degeneration begins in deep-water sectors
