Multiple regression equations for in vivo estimation of the breast muscle content in turkeys

Crossbred tyrkeys BUT-9 reared to 21 weeks (toms) and 15 weeks (hens), constituted the experimental material. The following measurements were taken by means of an ultrasonic apparatus for live birds: body weight,the length of breast-bone crest, chest circumference and the thickness of breast muscles (with a skin slice and subcutaneous fat), at the point situated 1.5 cm from the beginning of breast-bone and 2 cm from its edge. Then the birds were slaughtered and their chilled carcasses were dissected, separating breast muscles
