The development of leased farms depends on proper agrarian policy of the country and on the rules governing leasing. The objective of the paper was to present production and financial conditions of leased farms as well as the opinions and views on the conditions of lease contracts.The survey was conducted in the south-west macroregion of Poland. 414 lessees submited their answers to the inquiry. The analysis of collected information showed an urgent need of introducing new legal regulation concerning the functioning of leased farms
