Holubowicz, T. | Lysiak, G. (Akademia Rolnicza, Poznan (Poland). Katedra Sadownictwa)
From November 1999 till March 2000, air temperature at the level of 2.0 m in tree crowns as well as soil temperature at the depth of 15 and 30 cm under sward, sawdust cover and herbicide-cleared ground the sawdust mulch and sward covers were recorded. The winter was mild, with the lowest temperature -14 deg C. Changes in soil temperature at depth of 30 cm were slight, so they were not analysed. It was concluded that the soil without any cover, under herbicide clean cultivation, was most susceptible to cooling and freezing during the coldest period in winter 1999-00
