Grass-legume with a high proportion of legumes are characterized by a high nutritive value, but are ensiled with difficulty, as they require silage additives. To ensile grass-legume mixtures three chemical additivers varying in formic acid content were applied. Effects of the tested additives on the chemical composition and hygiene quality of grass-legume silage were examined. All silage additives had a positive influence on the examined parameters of silage quality, but the most effective preparation was the one containing 77.5 percent formic acid and 2-3 percent benzoate ethyl
