Wrobel, B. (Institute for Land Reclamation and Grassland Farming, Falenty (Poland). Dept. of Meadows and Pastures)
The study on nutritive value of grass silage were conducted during the years 1993-96. The silage from pre-wilted meadow sward was made according to two methods: in clamps and in big cylindrical bales. The silage was tested in feed experiments on heifers. The fermentation quality of both silages was good. The mean pH value in clamp silage was 4.91 and in big bale silage 5.13. Lactic acid content in fresh matter of silage from clamp was 25.7 g per kg and in silage from big bales 26.2 g per kg
