Effect of weather conditions on potato starch content in medium late and late potato bulbs in the Lodz region

In the paper were used data on potato starch content in medium and late potato bulbs from the Variety Evaluation Research Station in Lucmierz. Values for actual sunshine totals, mean air temperature, and precipitation totals for Meteorological Station in Lodz in the years of 1972-95 had been compiled from Monthly Agrometeorological Reviews of the Institute for Meteorology and Water Control and Exploitation. On the grounds of the twenty-four years' study period, significant relationship had been found between percent of potato starch content and solar, thermal and humidity conditions. Large actual sunshine total in June and small precipitation total in August-September had been favourable to potato starch accumulation
