Stem diameter, crown width and height relationship of acacia nilotica and derivation of volume equations

Data on diameter at breast height, (dbh), crown width and height of ten individual trees collected from each of twenty acacia nilotica (sunt) sample plots of different stand densities from plantation along the Blue Nile flood basins. Regression equations were developed for the relationship between dbh, height and crown width for different density groups. Covariance analysis revealed that there were no significant differences among the regression equations for the different density groups. A common regression equation has been constructed for the prediction of dbh from measurements of height and crown width. Data on volume, dbh and height of 623 acacia nilotica trees collected along the Blue Nile flood basins facilitated the construction of volume equations, using regression technique. The combined variable equation V = b0 + b1square(dbh) X h was the most significant, and addition of other variables did not significantly improve the equation. The two systems can be used in relation to ground measurements. Indications for using aerial photographs with the system are highlighted
