The aim of the paper is to evaluate the quality of dry matter of perennial grass stand and grass stand with additonal sowing fertilized by low doses of phosphorus and potassium. During years 1992-1995, the production and quality of biomass were observed in a up-land (locality Chvojnica, Strazov Hills, western part of the Slovak Republic) situated in mild and hunid climatic region. The grass stand is a community of Lolio-Cynosuretum cristati R.Tx. 1939. The clover-grass mixture was sown into the community by the sowing drill SE-2-024 in spring 1992. The clover-grass mixture consisted of: - Festulolium, cv. Felina 12 kg/ha; - Lolium perenne, cv. Metropol 8 kg/ha; - Dactylis glomerata, cv. Rela 4 kg/ha; - Trifolium pratense, cv. Sigord 3 kg/ha; - Trifolium repens, cv. Huia 2 kg/ha. PK-fertilizer (30 kg phosphorus in superphosphate and 60 kg of potassium in potassium salt per hectare) was used before sowing and during the period of three years (spring 1993, spring 1994, spring 1995). The both types of grass stand were utilized by a triple-cut system. The floristic changes of both types of grass stand were observed before each cutting. The values of qualitative indicators of obtained dry matter were evaluated by the variation analysis. The results of the evaluation pointed at the fact that the grass stand with additional sowing was better in production values than the perennial grass stand (5.08 and 4.66 t/ha). Meadow plants dominated the structure of communities of both types of grass stand. The nutritious values of both types of grass stand were nearly the same. The high presence of meadow plants caused a high content of phenols in dry matter of both types of grass stand and also high values of index of potential negative activity (IANP)
