The paper deals with the problems of the long term watching of the state and development of rotation periods, differences between rotation period and mean age of forest stands with planned main felling, real cutting percentage in particular age classes. The new way of the comparison of rotation period with mean age of mature forest stands by an index of rotation period is suggested. The real cutting percentage are evaluated by comparison with empiric exploitation percent, which according to the public notice on forest management, can be used in the present cutting control. Two units were evaluated by this way. The first one is forest management unit of School Forest Enterprise Zvolen and the next one is the part of this unit, named forest user`s unit, which contains of forest stands owned by state. Evaluations in three periods (1973, 1983, 1993) were made. From the obtained results follow, that the area of the oldest age classes in forest user`s unit were reduced. The results of comparison of real cutting percentage with empiric exploitation percent in the forest user`s unit confirmed, that it will be impossible to use applied cutting percentage in the future. It is necessary to use cutting percentage applied in the forest management unit
