Application of ultrafiltration in molasses purification

The possibility of non-sucrose compounds, present in intermediate products of sugar processing, separation by ultrafiltration technique is investigated. Applying this technique, the environmental contamination from sugar plants can be extensively diminished. From molasses solution of 400Bx, by the ultrafiltration on membranes with different range of separation, colored and colloid matters were separated 55% to 75% and 75% to 80%, respectively. As a consequence of quated non-sucrose compounds separation, the purity of molasses solution increased for 3%.
