Persistence and mobility of herbicides in soil - a complicated and dynamic process

A review has been done about using of bioassay in the detection of herbicides residues in soil, including the sulfonilurea and imidazolinone and the possibility to determine levels of herbicide residues in soil, that injure succeding crops. In many instances the results obtained are contradictory owing to the complex influence of the individual environmental factors on the behaviors of herbicides. The present paper discusses the influence of some factors on the persistence and mobility of sulfonilurea and imidazolinone herbicides in soil and residual effect on some replacement and rotational crops. It is concluded that the behaviour of herbicides could be monitored succefully using the bioassay.
