The paper deals with the foliar application of agrostemin as growth regulator for mulberry plants to improve the econnomical efficiency of silkworm commercial rearing. We establushed that agrostemin exerts influence on the utilization of mulberry dry matterr by silkworms and the balance of expenditure for producting 1 kg of dry cocoons. No 59 variety was the most responsive to the influence of agrostemin. For all tested varieties, application of agrostemin significantly improved the utilization of dry mass for production of cocoons, silk shell and eggs. The differences toward non-treated controls were statistically proved. The data obtained showed that the chosen concentration of agrostemin and the period of treatment were favourable for improvement of economic efficiency of silkworm commercial rearing.
