The objective of research was to understand the formation of SO4 - as a function of SO2 and other constituents of atmosphere that affect this conversion, such as water content, particle concentration, intensity of sunlight, trace metals, etc. Also, significance of sulphate concentration monitoring is pointed out as monitoring of an important factor in acid rain formation. For this purpose, air quality monitoring was conducted at three different locations (one in urban and two in rural area). Part of the results (two month period) obtained from this investigation, is presented in this paper.
