Effect of radiational hygienization on nutritional usability of feed for rainbow trout (Oncorhynchus mykiss)

The objective of this work was to evaluate the efficiency of radurization applied to a compound feed fed to rainbow trout fry. The compound feed contained 50.1 % of proteins, 14.4 % of fat, and 4,244.2 kcal/kg of energy. It was irradiated by gamma rays (60Co source, 5 kGy). The feed was then fed to the growing fry during 60 days. No positive effect of the irradiated feed on growth rate, survival and protein efficiency ratio was observed.
