[Perception of the native chicken farmers]

Research result in general were that men farmers had medium and large-scale farm and women farmers in particular had small-scale farm. Mean age of the farmers was about 40 years. Most of the small-scale farmers were graduated from elementary school, while the large and medium-scale were scattered from elementary school to senior high school. They had 1 to 4 family dependents, and they had experiences more than 5 years in the scope of small and medium-scale animal husbandries and earned Rp. 450,000/month, while the large-scale was less than 5 years and earned Rp. 600,000/month. In general, perception scores of the native chicken farmers was 70 to 80, and 42.86 percent of the large-scale farmers had scores 80. The farmer groups had many participants consisting of the large and small-scale farmers. Most of the farmers had both radio and televisions. The large and medium-scale farmers also had some printing mass media. The farmers made frequently contact with TV, their peers, chief group and change agent, but it was even more prominent in large and small-scale. Education, experience, and, number of family dependents and farmer perceptions apparently had relation to communication behavior.
