Based on the research experiences from various agroclimatic regions of the country it was realised that a large area under degraded lands can be safeguarded and make productive through horticultural landuse. The present study deals with conservation horticulture practices including selection of right type of plant materials and root stocks, appropriate nursery technique for better plant establishment, soil working techniques, nutrient and moisture management, use of chemcials and plant growth substances, rejuvenation of indigenous plant types etc. However, such conservation techniques are site specific, hence, they must be judiciously adopted under a change setup of edaphoclimatic conditions.
