Of 769 and 1355 progenies of M2 generation of Contender and Himl, the locally grown varieties of french bean evaluated against floury leaf spot under field conditions, none of plants were found disease free. In both the cultivars, maximum number of resistant plants were recorded in gamma rays treatment. Only three progenies of Contender and nineteen of Himl were moderately resistant to the floury leaf spot under different treatments. Of 725 and 1260 progenies of M2 generation of Contender and Himl respectively evaluated against bacteria] blight under glass house condition, two of Contender and thirteen of Himl under 5kR of gamma ray treatment were moderately resistant. None of the progenies showed high level of resistance to the pathogen. In case of EMS treatment, eleven progenies of Contender were moderately resistant. In Him 1, four progenies of gamma rays and one from EMS treatment were found resistant whereas sixteen progenies from gamma ray treatment were moderately resistant to bacterial blight pathogen.
