Incidence of canine parvoviral infection in immunised dogs

Canine parvovirus (CPV) is highly contagious infectious agent that causes gastroenteritis in dogs. The rapid spread of the disease has accentuated the demand for effective immunoprophylactic measures. Eventhough the use of effective vaccines has reduced the incidence of canine parvoviral infection among domestic dogs, outbreaks of canine parvoviral enteritis among vaccinated dogs have been reported occasionally. Hence the present study was undertaken to study the immune status and responses to immunisation against canine parvoviral infection in dogs.
