Exogenous enzymes which, for the purpose of this paper, include phytase, ¥â-glucanase, pentosanase and ¥á-galactosidase, are now extensively used throughout the world as additives in swine diets. The chemical effects of these enzymes are well understand. However, the manner in which their benefits to the swine are brought about is still under debate.
