Macroeconomic factors influencing lending rates

The target of the research is to learn and evaluate the influence of the most important macroeconomic factors on the development of lending rates on long-term and short-term loans granted in Lats. To achieve the set target the impact of interest rates on long-term and short term deposits, inflation, GDP and the refinancing rate of the Bank of Latvia on the dynamics of lending rates is analysed. The research covers an eight-year period, i.e., from 1994 up to 2001.
