Salzburg conference was a borderline in rural development. Cork-Salzburg ideas in practice in Latvia: acquisition of SAPARD, activity development of AAFSL, growing up of local action groups. At the same time, the main problems are pointed out: still essential regional differences, automatization is still not satisfying, low level of adult education, the insufficient renewal of the scientific potential, rural development program needs improvement. Authors also estimate the participation of LLU in rural problems solving in Latvia.
