A trial in three scientific centres (Priekuli Plant Breeding Station, Skriveri Research Centre, Training and Research Farm Vecauce) was carried out in order to find out suitability of some potato varieties in organic farms. Two early varieties, Sante and Leonora, and four medium late varieties, Brasla, Zile, Bete and Magdalena, were included in this research. The article deals with the resistance of these varieties against potato late blight as well as the starch content in tubers. The trial shows that it is possible to achieve high results using methods of organic farming.
