The impact of primary sedimentary structures on groundwater flow : a multi-scale sedimentological and hydrogeological study in unconsolidated eolian dune deposits
2003
Berg, E.H. van den
The objective of the present study is to improve the understanding of anisotropy of hydraulic conductivity caused by primary sedimentary structures and estimate its effect on fluid flow in aquifers. The study presents experimental research on theanisotropy of hydraulic conductivity from pore-scale to bed-scale by integrating sedimentological information and characterization of hydraulic conductivity on several length scales. The data were obtained in a shallow aquifer consisting of a successionof unconsolidated eolian dune beds
