Impact of irrigation frequencies on the yield and yield components of wheat
2002
Baloch, Q.
The experiment was laid out in Randomized Complete Block Design with three replications and treatments were I1= 2, I2= 3, I3= 4 and I4= 5 irrigations, Three varieties were V1= 7001, V2= Kiran, V3= T.J-83. The results shows that variety 7001 produced taller p]ants with maximum plant height of 90.95 cm nave maximum number of tiller (273.5) per square meter had spikes with a maximum length of 8.6 cm with highest number of spikelets/spike (15.9) mean number of grains per spike were produced as 46.6. In variety T.J-83. number of tillers per square meter were 269.00, variety 7001 was able to gave grains with maximum weight of 1.9g per spike. Produced grains with a 1000 grain weight of 39.2 p. followed by variety T.J-83 where grain weight per spike was 1.6g and 1000 grain weight was recorded as 38.9g. The minimum grain weight/spike (1.6 g) was recorded from variety Kiran. Variety 7001 showed superiority over other two varieties by producing maximum grain yield of 2717 kg/ha whereas varieties T.J-83 and Kiran gave grain yield of 2612 kg/ha whereas varieties T.J-83 and Kiran gave grain Yield of 2612 kg/ha and 25O9 kg/ha respectively. In case of irrigations where maximum number of irrigations were applied maximum number of tillers (284.0) were obtained. 9.9 cm was the maximum spike length which was obtained under 14 treatment followed by 13 treatment where spike length was recorded as 9.7 cm. Number of spikelets/spike varied with varying irrigation frequencies, crop when irrigated more frequently i.e. when received five irrigations irrigated more number of spikelets per spike i.e. 18.7 whereas under four and five irrigations wheat produced approximately same number of grains/spike With the increase in number or irrigations from two to three 1000 grain weight increased from 30.4 to 36.0 g which went on increase further and 1000 grains weight was obtained as 43.6 and 43.9g under four and five irritations frequencies respectively. Further it is noted that under maximum number of irrigations i.e., five wheat grain yield was obtained as 3272 kg/ha followed by irrigation frequency 13 where four irrigations were applied and grain yield was obtained as 3216 kg/ha. However, with the application of three and two irrigations yield of wheat declined drastically and was noted as 2073 and 1887 kg/ha respectively. In case of interaction the maximum grain yield 3445 kg/ha was obtained under V1 x I4 combinations and minimum 1848 from V2xI1 interaction.
